Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics

The establishment of Samsun University Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics was decided by the Council of Ministers on 01.02.2010 in accordance with the additional article 30 of the Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions dated 28.03.1983 and numbered 2809, upon the proposal of the Ministry of National Education.  It was published in the Official Gazette dated 26.02.2010 and numbered 27505 and entered into force. With the decision of the Senate dated 09.12.2010, the faculty operates on the campus called BALLICA Campus in the district of Ondokuz Mayıs.

The opening of the Aerospace Engineering and Meteorology Engineering departments within the faculty was approved by the Higher Education Council’s approval dated 07.03.2011 and numbered B.30.0.EÖB-101.03.01-1454. The Airframe Engine and Aircraft Electronics departments, which were previously the departments of the School of Civil Aviation, were incorporated into the faculty with the decision of the Higher Education Council dated 17.10.2016 and merged under the name of Aircraft Maintenance and Repair Department.
